The California 56 Collectors is a club that was established 1991. It's purpose continues to join like minded people who share an interest in creating, promoting, developing the 'hands on' skills needed to display all things Department 56, accessories, related items and products. Situated in Southern California, our meetings occur the 3rd Saturday of every other month (January, March, May, July, September, November) at Maria Callendar's in Orange, unless otherwise announced. A short business meeting, including lots of raffles, from door prizes to a professional quality vignette display, highlighting the multiple villages our collectors enjoy. Programs can include special guests presenting skills and ideas, 'make and takes' where everyone gets an opportunity to create their own piece with an accomplished teacher as the guide, interviews and panel discussion about our interests or a fun diversion, delighting the group.
An Outing is usually planned annually, which can include visiting one of our sponsoring stores, a trip of a museum, a picnic, or some other fun-filled event.
This is always followed by a meal close by. On the alternate months at the same date and time we meet on Zoom for meetings, with programming that inspires the members!
Our Facebook page invites those living in the Southern California area, who would be interested in the activities and events of those described above, to come and join us. Plus, if you care to add yourself as an online member from anywhere in the U.S. or other parts of the Globe, you are welcomed!
If you are interested in the club, please contact Marvella McAllister, membership chair at: alleveram@aol.com.
